Kyutoshin (Warm Needle Moxibustion)

Updated: Feb 5, 2022

In my Japanese Acupuncture practice in Jakarta, i have so many good experiences in using this wonderful technique of Moxibustion. This technique is called Kyutoshin or Warm Needle Moxa, on which the Moxa (Artemisia vulgaris) wool is rolled and put on the top of the needle, let it burnt. This technique may generates great warming sensation, soothing, and relaxing effect. While the needle works in the Qi level, the Moxa works in the Blood level.

Dr. Yoshio Manaka usually used Kyutoshin to harmonize "The Yang Channel along the Bladder meridian" in Step 2 as part of root treatment. But, the using of Kyutoshin is also effective for symptomatic control (in Step 4) especially for Muscle Tension, Joint Pain, Chronic chillness. Some practitioners in Japan, such as Tanaka and Akabane use Kyutoshin really extensive to treat Facial Paralysis, 50-year Shoulder syndrome, Rheumatism of the Knee, Fronto-Temporal headache, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Hormonal problem in women, etc.

Usually this technique will be painless, and it's soothing-warming effect is really good for the patient to rest and relax, even to sleep during the session. To know more about Japanese Acupuncture in Jakarta click here.
